The largest domestic bacon producer has launched a new cold store. The facility is to meet the increased own needs and provide storage and freezing services for meat products for entrusted goods. The cold store is another element of the investment project which began with the expansion of the baked bacon production line and ended with the implementation of a modern ERP class.

The expansion of the production line is the result of the growing demand for baked bacon produced in a fat-free technology. The bacon baked with a stream of hot air provides the final product with a unique taste, difficult to obtain using traditional technologies. However, its most important advantage is functionality. Such bacon is ready to be eaten cold, and in the hot version, it requires only a short heating, which significantly shortens the process of preparing meals.

- The product is appreciated in particular by Western customers, where this technology is already known – emphasizes Tomasz Przymencki, Production Director at ZMW KAMINIARZ – This increased demand from the local HoReCa sector and the food industry is behind the decision to expand the existing cooling areas.

The new cold store located at the production plant in Święciechowa, Greater Poland Voivodeship, was launched at the end of last year, and the facility was fully functional in the first quarter of this year.

Usable capacity of the cold store is 1500 pallets. The cold rooms are equipped with drive-in high storage racks and modern temperature monitoring systems. The facility enables the storage of products at temperatures down to -18 degrees Celsius, and the capacity of flash freezing is 20 tons/day.

- Storage and freezing services for entrusted meat products are an additional function of the facility – adds Tomasz Przymencki, Production Director at ZMW KAMINIARZ – Good location by the S5 expressway, predestines it as a regional transhipment centre for further redistribution of goods in western Poland or beyond our western border.

The facility offers packaging, repackaging, palletizing, labelling and picking services that are typical for cold stores. It is managed on the basis of an advanced Warehouse Management System (WMS), the use of wireless devices (barcode readers and handheld terminals) integrated with scales and temperature meters. The system is an integral part of a modern ERP class system, implemented at the last stage of the investment project. It allows the management of all production, administrative and logistic processes in the plant. “KAMINIARZ” meat processing plant is a plant that continues the family butcher's traditions dating back to 1926, specializing in the production of bacon. Bacon makes up 95% of the plant's offer, and its daily production exceeds 50 tons. Thanks to specialized lines for bacon cutting and processing operations, the plant prepares dedicated production solutions for the leaders of the HoReCa sector and the food industry.
